MYTHBUSTERS

One of the biggest issues our community faces is the spread of  misinformation about the Cultural Competency Action Plan (CCAP), the School Board of Trustees, and the actions taken by CISD to ensure equity and inclusion for our students. This page is dedicated to uncovering the truth behind misinformation.

MYTH:

CISD is paying legal counsel, Thompson & Knight, to represent individual School Board Trustees.

TRUTH:

Thompson & Knight represent Carroll ISD on any criminal components related to the Open Meetings Act. Thompson & Knight do not represent individual employees or independent  Trustees.  Fees paid to Thompson & Knight were incurred from CISD  representation on behalf of the Temporary Restraining Order filed by a Southlake resident for the accused violation of the Open Meetings Act.

Superintendent Dr. Ledbetter explains legal fees from Thompson & Knight at 2/2/21 School Board Meeting
