Dear CISD Class of 2023,

Dignity for All Texas Students is a Southlake-based non-profit organization focused on fostering a culture of diversity, inclusion, and belonging in Carroll ISD schools and the Southlake community. This year Dignity is excited to award $1,000 scholarships to two Class of 2023 CISD graduates who submit an essay (maximum 500 words) on the following topic:

During the Civil Rights struggles of the 1960s, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a leading voice against social injustices. He helped others see that the fight against racism was connected to other injustices because all people are connected to one another.

Incorporating a quote from Dr. King’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail,” describe a social injustice, inequality, or human rights issue you have seen or experienced and share how it impacted you and your community.  Explain what you did (or would do) to fight against that injustice.
